Break up the day a little bit. At the office you go see people, maybe go out to lunch, walk down the hall to a meeting; you don’t have that working from home. Smart Trainer

Yes, a smart trainer is a nice thing to have right now and a work at home essential. In certain areas, you can’t get out and ride and in others you might not want to be out there. A smart trainer is going to allow you to train in near silence and will offer road like resistance and climbs. It is the closet thing to real riding you can do from inside. Just pair it with an app like Zwift or Bkool. Heck, you can even do a conference call when riding. Okay, no Zoom or Google video chat but if you are doing an “old fashion” conference call you can pull it off, just stay out of zone 4 and 5 heart rate. Fun Challenge

Yeah we are cyclists and it is cool to put in some monstrous miles but how about mixing it up a little and maybe even talking a little smack with your friends. Pick a challenge and go for it. Mine is 10 body weight squats, 10 pushups and 10 sit-ups on day one, then add one every day through the end of April. It doesn’t sound that exciting, but luckily I have good friends to bust my chops if I fail. You might even find yourself overall stronger for the gravel cycling season.
