Everyone has their work at home essentials, but ours are the best! Why, you ask? Because they have nothing to do with work! Yeah, a cool desk would be great but what are you going to do with it after you go back to the office? We guarantee these six work at home essentials won’t make it to Craigslist.

Trigger Point Foam Roller
Break up the day a little bit. At the office you go see people, maybe go out to lunch, walk down the hall to a meeting; you don’t have that working from home. So maybe take the dog for a quick walk or loosen up and get your blood flowing using Trigger Point’s foam roller. Stretching and helping your muscles recover by using a foam roller for 10 minutes in the morning and 10 minutes in the afternoon will make a difference in your workout. All Trigger Point Performance Products at REI.
Hario V60 Pour Over Coffer Maker
The 10 o’clock “pick me up” has never been so important. Don’t waste half a pot, or worse yet, be forced to drink an entire pot then sit around with the shakes all day. Order yourself a nice Hario pour-over coffee maker and filters and have a fresh cup of joe whenever your heart desires. Hario V60 Coffee Dripper available at Amazon.
Yes, a smart trainer is a nice thing to have right now and a work at home essential. In certain areas, you can’t get out and ride and in others you might not want to be out there. A smart trainer is going to allow you to train in near silence and will offer road like resistance and climbs. It is the closet thing to real riding you can do from inside. Just pair it with an app like Zwift or Bkool. Heck, you can even do a conference call when riding. Okay, no Zoom or Google video chat but if you are doing an “old fashion” conference call you can pull it off, just stay out of zone 4 and 5 heart rate. Another good idea is starting your day loosening up with an easy spin and replying to emails. Prices vary from around $400 and up. Be sure to check out the Wahoo Kickr Smart Trainer.
Yeah we are cyclists and it is cool to put in some monstrous miles but how about mixing it up a little and maybe even talking a little smack with your friends. Pick a challenge and go for it. Mine is 10 body weight squats, 10 pushups and 10 sit-ups on day one, then add one every day through the end of April. It doesn’t sound that exciting, but luckily I have good friends to bust my chops if I fail. You might even find yourself overall stronger for the gravel cycling season.
