How to Replace SRAM eTap AXS Shifter Batteries

Winter is here and now is a good time to replace your eTap AXS shifter batteries. Trust me, you do not want to have it die on a hilly ride. This has been learned from experience.

SRAM AXS shifters use a common CR2032 battery secured by a simple battery cover, and it will last nearly two years of normal use but we’ve found it a good practice to replace yearly. Let’s walk through checking the status and replacing the battery in a few easy steps.

If you don’t have CR2032 batteries already, chances are Amazon can have them to you tomorrow or the next day if you are a prime member. I found this the best option, as I never remember them when I am at the store.

The LED on AXS shifter paddles and derailleurs can tell you a lot while pairing components together, updating the firmware with the SRAM AXS Mobile App, and checking the battery status.

The simplest way is to perform a shift and compare the LED light with the battery status chart to determine the approximate amount of life left in your shifter battery.
