Hutchinson Touareg is the New Kid on the Block

The Hutchinson Touareg is the new kid on the block, for this week at least. It seems the French tire manufacturer has been whipping out tires rather quickly as of late. Whether it is about racing or enjoying a wonderful adventure, Hutchinson’s goal was to develop a gravel tire with maximum versatility.

Whether you’re racing or planning an epic adventure, Hutchinson’s goal was to develop a gravel tire with maximum versatility.

Hutchinson Touareg Gravel Cycling Tire
The Touareg improves upon Hutchinson’s famous Overide gravel tire when it comes to riding on rougher terrains. The Touareg’s knobs are more pronounced, with greater volume and wider dimensions; thus, providing protection and grip even on the most rugged terrains.

The Hutchinson Touareg Gravel Tire

The newest member of their gravel cycling lineup works on merging the best of its road and mountain bike expertise and experience, the brand created the Touareg: a tire developed to meet optimal efficiency wherever in the world you are, providing the best combination of performance, grip and durability.

The Touareg builds upon Hutchinson’s slick Overide gravel tire when it comes to riding on rougher terrains. Touareg’s knobs are more pronounced, with greater volume and wider dimensions. Thus, they provide protection and grip even on the most rugged terrain. The Touareg is designed to enjoy every second of the off-road adventure while maintaining strong performance on tarmac – for a smooth and comfortable ride.

Hutchinson Touareg on the Road
The Tourareg is no Hutchison Overide tire but with the small, tightly spaced knobs it is designed to roll fast on the road and hard gravel as well.

The versatility of the Hutchinson Touareg is in part thanks to the addition and the architecture of its knobs. The smaller and more compact small blocks contribute to comfort and performance, on both rough terrain and smooth tarmac. The center knobs are very tightly spaced almost creating a center ridge effect. This tire is reminiscent of old school mountain bike tires, back when small and narrow was all the rage.

An Extra Layer of Protection

Hutchinson’s new gravel tire is also reinforced with the Hardskin textile grid from bead to bead. In addition to the rubber thickness, Hutchinson’s Hardskin reinforcement offers additional protection against sharp stones, rocks and any other hostile material found on rough gravel terrain. This mountain bike reinforcement has been thoroughly proven on XC Marathon races.

The Hutchinson Touareg is available in 700x40c, 700x45c and 650x47c and with standard black or a more retro tan sidewall. Weights start at 490 grams for the 700x40c. Retail price is $64.99.
