The Ohio Gravel Series announces 2023 dates and events. Join in for adventure, camaraderie, and competition.  The Ohio Gravel Race Series is a point based series composed of 8 unique gravel road races within the great state of Ohio.  Racers will test themselves against diverse road conditions such as gravel, dirt, singletrack trails, rural back roads, and some asphalt.  Route conditions vary from hard-packed dirt to softball-sized rocks and everything in between with distances ranging from 50 to 130 miles.  Each event boasts its own unique vibe and after party atmosphere, consisting of anything from craft beer to live music to hand dipped ice cream.

Black Fork Gravel Grinder | May 6, 2023

The Black Fork 54-mile race route is Ohio’s Premier Gravel Event. These diverse gravel roads coupled with 5500 feet of stupid steep elevation will surely test those legs and lungs…and of course a beer at the finish always hits the spot.

Organized by Trailer Park Racing and COMBO. This event supports COMBO and their mission of trail building in Central Ohio.

Eligibility & Scoring

Eligibility: To become eligible for Ohio Gravel Race Series points, rankings, and rewards, racers need only to register and start any to all of the events within the series. Racers can enter any number of events to improve ranking by compiling points throughout the season. All points earned while starting series events are tabulated and will count towards a series title and awards. There is no minimum number of events required, however starting more events increases chances to win.

Categories: Racers who register, in any Ohio Gravel Race Series events eligible route category, will automatically be entered into either the Series Open Men or Series Open Women category. There is no additional registration requirement for series participation. Eligible routes are listed below.

Point Eligible Routes:

  • Black Fork Gravel Grinder – 54 Miles
  • Baitin’ The Shark – 50 Miles
  • Athens Gravel Challenge – 50 Miles
  • Funk Bottom Gravel – 130 Miles
  • McLain Farm Adventure Race – 60
  • Magnolia Gravel Galore – 55 Miles
  • GPS100 – 62 Miles
  • Ride On Jeremy’s Ride – 100 Miles

Points: Racers earn points towards the series based on placement within the individual events. Points are allocated on a 1000-point weighted scale, whereby racer registration numbers dictate a given events points allocation. Racers top 7 placements of the 8 series events will count towards series awards. Racers who start any event but DNF (Did Not Finish) will receive 50% of the total points received by the final finisher of that event.

SCORING NOTE: Results submitted by individual event promoters are considered final.

Ties: All series ties will be broken at the final event. The tie breaking event will be held at the Ride On Jeremy’e Ride in October. Racers are not required to enter the tie breaking event to be eligible for series awards. In the event of a tie at an individual event, the racers involved in the tie will receive an equal amount of the cumulative points available to all places involved in the tie.

Awards: The top 3 racers in each series category will receive Series Awards during the season beginning ceremony held at the Black Fork Gravel Grinder.
